Valentine's Day Party & An Accidental Tutorial

Today was Jaxsen's Valentine's Day party! I am POSITIVE that I enjoy these shindigs farrr more than she does. The kid inside of me wants to decorate a cookie, listen to a story, and eat my heart shaped PB&J afterwards. Some (DJ) would say I am living vicariously through my child. I can't argue. I would love to be a kid again. Arts and crafts, naps, snow days and you can throw a temper tantrum in public without getting thrown into a mental hospital!?!?! Heck yes, sign me up! I'll be a kid again!

"Cheeesseee."

Cookie decorating.

This is when I got really happy! I realized that after she eats that cookie, she is going to be super hyper BUT she has 3 more hours at school and her teachers get to deal with all the "fun!" Side note: She was too cracked out at school to take a nap so she is taking one right now.
Double whammy!

Girl talk.

Lots of goodies.

I found this Valentine tutorial on Pinterest and it turned out fabulous! The hardest part was getting a good picture. I bribed her with cookies and she still wouldn't cooperate.

Me: "Hold up your arm, look at the camera, and laugh."
Jaxs: (Arm halfway up, looking at her dad and almost crying).

We gave up.

Then daddy saved the day! He got her to take the picture, the next day, on the second try!
I uploaded the picture to Picnik, added some stickers, text, and saved it.

(Pals is an acronym they use at her school and yes, I did fix that punctuation error).

I printed them on HP Premium Plus Photo Paper. Then I cut a slit at the top and bottom of her fist. Inserted the lollipop and done-ski!
This really wasn't meant to be a tutorial. Oh well, it was too easy not to share!

Instafriday

This has been a blah kinda week. I had a sudden epiphany, and I decided that I wanted to wake up earlier so I can get more done. Needless to say, I have been a walking zombie that has only woken up early 3 times this week. Better than nothing but I don't think waking up at 6:30 am to mop our tile floor is very worth it. Anyways, I am hoping that next week is better.

Jaxsen had a Superbowl party at her school this week and since I'm a cheapskate, I made her a shirt instead of buying one she would only wear once. I had some iron on paper for the logo and I slapped some bows on it. Perfectly cute and cheap. I have made her a Superbowl shirt every year since she was born. One day, she will refuse to wear it and I will probably cry.
STOP GROWING, KID!

I made laundry soap this week! It turned out great. It's supposed to last for 6 months because you only need a tablespoon per load. I just don't think 1 tablespoon is enough though so I always add some extra. It smells great and the ingredients were under $20. I will get the recipe on here soon!

Smile, it's breakfast! Kale Chips and avocado. Yum!

Stir Fry for lunch. What's a lunch without sriracha, chili paste and sweet chili sauce? Well my friend, it's just not spicy enough for me. I love all things S-P-I-C-Y!

Late night smoothie! I broke two blenders in a months time so I went and got a new one last night. I got impatient with our last blender and stuck a knife to far into it. The blade came off and bye-bye blender.

I took my wedding dress in for alterations yesterday! 85 days until the wedding. Eeekkk!

The wind knocked my favorite plant out of the window and it broke. It's fixed now though! My mom gave me the pot and it says, "God uses the cracked pots." So very true.

::Tutorial:: Valentine's Day Yarn Bottles & Pom Pom Garland

Valentine's Day is less than a week away but it's not too late to jazz up your home with sommme lovie decorations! My "mantel" is really boring but this really jazzed it up a bit. Like a match made in heaven!

Let's start with the yarn bottles.

Now it's time to start the Pom Pom Garland!

Be sure to save two pom poms so you can put them on top of the bottles.

Turn the bottle over.

TA-DA! Now you have a cute little garland for Valentine's Day! The whole project takes around 45-60 minutes to complete. Not bad.

What are your favorite ways to decorate for Valentine's Day?
